A Perfect Food for Children

And moms who need to replenish themselves!

Everyone is looking for sources of folate, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids, but the organic avocado frequently gets overlooked.

Avocados are perfect for children because they contain many necessary nutrients in a healthy package. Look for organic avocados that are picked by hand. I no longer buy my avocados in the store because they rot before they ripen due to the way they are picked unripe and stored.

A shout out here to Avocado Monthly, an organic grower in California that has a variety of avocado types. I have been using them for several years now and the avocados are always wonderful.

Add authentic sea salt to the avocado!

Teach small children how to use salt to taste. This is important because the human body has a natural craving for the amount of salt that it requires. You must not use cheap, processed table salt because it lacks the nutrients of authentic salt crystals, and it contains a number of additives. If you leave Morton’s salt or another processed salt out, you will notice that it does not clump together. That is bad. It means the salt is full of additives, which have been proven to harm digestion, among other things.

The problem with salt in packaged foods is that the manufacturers dump in processed salt, processed sugar, and unheathy fats in order to make cheap stuff taste good. You can’t taste how much of any one thing you eat because it is cleverly combined. These companies took an old food trick — if you use too much salt in a soup, just add sugar and fat to save the soup — and sort of zombified it.

Our family uses Saltwerk sea salt from Iceland on organic, hand-picked avocados from California.

Tamara Rubin, the filmmaker and mother of lead-poisoned children, actually rents the XRF analyzers to test for heavy metals (they are expensive to rent, so I trust her to point and push the button to run the machine, plus there is no profit in NOT selling something).

One thing you will notice is that it makes sense, Celtic Sea salt is from the Celtic Sea, off the coast of the former tin mine area of Cornwall, England. The mine run off has been going into that sea ever since my great, great grandparents decided to leave Cornwall. Salt from the Mediterranean also tests high in undesirable things, but we can see how enclosed this sea actually is on the map. If you look at Iceland, you will see that it is physically one of the cleaner bodies of water.

Do you have salt at home? Check to make sure it is in crystal form. If it is in small, identical round pieces, you know it was manufactured with additives. These additives contribute to things like pimples and skin rashes, among more serious problems.
