Gorgeous Artists Book for Children
If you want to splurge, luxury children's books are a super treat for gifts. Monet freebies at the bottom of the post.
Small Stories of Great Artists provides a delightful tour of famous artists through stories of real children who knew the artists.
I like the way Frida Kahlo explained her accident to her young friend, Mariana, in a matter-of-fact way that helps children understand difficult things in life.
Expanding a child’s understanding of how art is created helps make their worlds bigger and better!

An interview with the author, Laurence Anholt, made me love the book even more because he had put so much time and research into writing real stories. Most authors just make up stories about historical figures (e.g., George Washington’s cherry tree), so I really respect the work that Anholt put into writing this book.
Of course, you can search for free images from these great artists to print for your child’s art folder, too. Did you download my Monet images from this earlier post?
