Introduce your child to high-quality foods, scents, fabrics, toys, bedding, and everything else. These are the years in which true taste is formed. Ignore the marketing and use your own taste as a guide.
This morning, I realized that my favorite perfume maker, Mandy Aftel, is getting older, so I wanted to share her with you. Since she is so famous in the expensive perfume world, most people never realize that Mandy sells her own perfume and perfume-making supplies from her own workshop in California. She has moved her natural perfume making class online, too. It is a wonderful experience!
Her line of chef’s scents is perfect for the Montessori tasting, scent, and food work!
In a dermatology journal the other day, I saw that bitter orange oil has been rediscovered by science as a fungal fighter of last resort, after fungus has become dangerously resistant to antifungal medications. I guess it’s not profitable to tell patients just to use the bitter orange oil instead of taking the (dangerous) antifungal medications.
These scents are often the secret ingredient in high end restaurants. Especially for "pop of flavor" items like desserts and amouse-bouches. And a real bitter orange oil has multiple scents, not just the one you might get in a synthetic flavor.
