Montessori infant massage is important to learn. It is hard to describe in writing, so we are making videos. However, the hardest thing for most people to learn is the amount of pressure to apply. The video below is extremely useful for your own lymph flow, but it also teaches you the amount of pressure that is good for infants and children.
You can extend this massage to your breasts to help the lymph flow all the way out of the head to breast area. I recommend this a few times a week as part of your self-maintenance routine.
For massaging infants, you use your entire hand (not just fingers) with the same pressure.
Infant and child massage basics:
Stroke from the top of their bodies down to the toes in long, continuous strokes.
Use an edible oil on the baby’s skin, so your hands don’t pull on the baby’s skin.
Never use a commercial body oil from a bottle! Avoid olive oil due to all the adulterations and fraud in the olive oil market.
If you are unfamiliar with massage, you can experiment on an older child or an adult. Elderly people tend to be more sensitive than others, so experimenting on one of your parents can be especially good practice. For adults, you can also have them wear comfortable clothing and just do the massage on top of the clothes.
On your infant, let your infant’s reactions guide your touch.
More later. Have a good lymph massage!
Very nice! I never thought of this, but I'm sure they will also enjoy the massage.
