This is a page from short fox story, part of our new reading material collection.
Our work features real animal photos and stories, not fiction, so children learn about the world in which they live. Young children adore learning real facts such as the proper names of animals and their young.
Our work also includes animal babies with their families in natural settings. We avoid photos of solitary animal babies in photo shoots because we want to show children that animal babies belong with their own families.
The world of children’s books frequently depicts animal babies alone, or an animal family without a father, neither of which are accurate portrayals of real animal behavior. For example, scientists once swore that tiger fathers abandoned, or ate, their offspring, but modern tracking technology and photography show us that this is not true at all. Yet children’s books will not be updated to reflect these findings.
This work is available for sale via digital download on our Etsy shop.
We will soon make these booklets available in print on our own website. The site is undergoing a large revision…and a few surprises!
I like the animal family pictures. They tell a story. Most animal photos are just one, which is not how they live. This gives the children a fuller picture of the real world.
