Mending sweaters and other knitwear is a perfect fine motor skill exercise. And it is pretty handy for spring cleaning as we put our sweaters away for the season.
In the Montessori classroom, children start using large needles with yarn when they are about four years of age. At this age, children love being able to see the visible results of their craft efforts, and sewing is more useful that drawings on the fridge.
I found this book link the other day, so I wanted to share it with you. It’s a bit fancy, so you can take the concept without buying the book, unless you want to do more sophisticated work.
