Swim Safety: No Floaties!
Never use floaties, swim vests, or other products that trick children into believing they will not sink. Brits call these “puddle jumpers” 💦
If you buy floatation devices for children, they are tricked into thinking they will not sink. This is a terrifying mistake.
The worse a parent swims, they more likely they are to buy floatation aids. If you do not swim well, start lessons now! You can do water acclimation practice for yourself, too.
Here is a toddler who learned how to swim properly,
One of my pet peeves is that lazy swim instructors have children holding onto kickboards to practice kicking. This is really worthless because they learn to kick in the wrong way, plus they aren’t learning to swim. You learn to swim by swimming.
This is an example of a good kick,

Swimming Safety: Visibility is Key
What color is your child’s swimsuit? Does it have good or bad visibility?
Thanks for sharing, we take our kids to an almost navy seal swimming lesson😅 the instructor trained for rescue teams in extreme conditions in the USA, and once every 2 months we bring clothes for them to swim and feel the weight. With babies we also train falling down to the pool. But the reminder about colours for swim clothes was very necessary! I realised we are definitely not using the right colours and will look for alternatives. Big hug from Málaga 🌹
