I like the large, tactile book. No paper cuts and safe to leave with the baby. And all real animals. I think having cartoon animals too early might be confusing to a baby. I would think that, unless you know what a cow is, a cartoon drawing of a cow is just some random shape. Real animals look and act normally, the cartoon ones act like humans.

Glad you liked my post! A resounding "yes" on your cartoon cow comment! Indeed, the time for cartoons is later, once children have a firm grasp of the wonders of the real world. And real cows.
