I am not Montessori trained so I need to ask. I find it hard to know where to get the materials so this is gold. I just really would like to know if the provider is not that important as long as the material has the right specifications. Thank you.
Nowadays, it does not matter what company makes the Montessori equipment. The only important thing is that the specifications are correct.
Almost all equipment is made in China, although I have seen some nice wooden equipment from Sri Lanka. Everyone else is just importing and re-selling.
A long time ago, Nienhuis in European was the gold-standard. But the Nienhuis family sold the company, so their equipment is no longer special. Frequently, I find they substitute plastics for wood in many materials, sadly. Plus, they are making new toys that they sell with their regular Montessori equipment, so it is hard to shop on the site.
thank you so much for this valuable information. I am currently looking at https://www.montessoriequipment.ca/ classroom package for my kids. This is a store in Vancouver. I would greatly appreciate your opinion on them and any other suggestions on websites.
You would have to verify that the items in the package are the correct size. It is better to buy fewer things than to get miniature ones.
The first and second"classroom packages" look okay in terms of the names of the items. The only thing wrong is the "metal inset tracing tray" (it should NOT be used, it's something made up by a factory). You do not need a cabinet for the puzzles nor a hanging rack for the dressing frames, but they are not wrong.
Not in the package, I notice they carry a lot of material that is just wrong. Take care. But many sellers do this, so it's always a matter of sifting through stuff.
I'd be curious if it is worth it, if you tally the items you do need.
I have most recently shopped for replacement equipment on the Aliexpress shop. Ohyeplus Montessori Store. But I know shipping to CA is an issue.
Hi, what material would you recommend for home schooling a toddler from 19 months till 2.5.or 3 years? He will go to a Montessori school at 2.5 or 3 years. Thanks
I'd suggest keeping him as active as possible with activities you'll see on our blog with skills ranging from swimming to singing and forest exploration. You could also use the Practical Life work and the first several Sensorial pieces from our Primary One album, especially if you wait until he is three for school. It depends on your child, too. Some children like starting earlier, some do not.
